The ICC Men’s Day Cricket World Cup 2023 is likely to be played in India from October 5 to November 19 this year, for which preparations and arrangements are going on in full swing. Cricket fanatics are eagerly waiting for this mega event and are spending every day counting. However, the above dates are not final as the final schedule has not yet been announced by the ICC due to some issues, However, before this, the schedule and venues were always announced a year before the start of the mega event.

Introduction

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), 12 venues has selected for the ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 matches including the world’s largest cricket stadium of Ahmedabad where the final match of the mega event is scheduled to be played. Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lakhan, Rajkot, Mumbai, Dharmashah, Bengaluru, Delhi, Guwahati, and Indore are the other selected cities where world cup matches would be played.

Proposed Schedule

According to the unofficial schedule prepared, about 48 matches will be played in this mega event and fans will be able to see their favorite players in action in the thrilling matches of this tournament for more than 45 days. However, keep in mind that this schedule is inconclusive and it is possible to change it, the Indian Cricket Board has not yet announced the schedule and venues of the warm-up matches of the mega event.

Why is the schedule delayed?

The question must be arising in the minds of all cricket fans why is the announcement of the final schedule of the ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 being delayed this time? Because earlier the full schedule was announced by the ICC a year in advance. One of the reasons for not announcing the schedule is the problems caused by the monsoon season in different parts of India. At the same time, the International Cricket Council is also awaiting necessary approval from the Indian government for organizing the ICC Men’s Day Cricket World Cup 2023 and other matters. The most important and unresolved issues at the moment are tax exemption for the tournament and visa clearance for the Pakistan team.

Indo-Pak conflict

Due to political issues between India and Pakistan, cricket has been completely suspended for the last several years except for ICC events, and the two countries have not traveled to play bilateral series in each other’s countries for almost ten years. There are also controversies over holding the Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Pakistan, but BCCI is not ready to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan without getting permission from the government. BCCI has put a condition that either the Asia Cup should be shifted to another country or their matches with Pakistan should be played at a neutral venue. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also refused to shift the Asia Cup to any other country. PCB is of the view that if India plays its matches at a neutral venue in the Asia Cup, Then Pakistan will also not go to India to play the World Cup and will play all its matches at a neutral venue. BCCI had been given full assurance to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the meetings regarding the issuance of visas to the Pakistani team in the World Cup. According to that assurance, visas will be issued to the Pakistani team and staff and there will be no problem in this matter from the Indian government.

Tax Exemption Agreement

The ICC is also facing a tax exemption issue in connection with the ICC Men’s day cricket world cup 2023 and it is expected that the BCCI will soon clear the matter with government officials and the mega event will be played in India as per its schedule.

The ICC has signed a tax exemption agreement with all hosting boards to conduct its tournaments and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also signed the agreement to implement in 2014. Under this agreement, India was given the hosting of three ICC men’s mega-events, but later due to Kovid-19, the T20 World Cup had to be shifted to the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

According to this agreement, all cricket boards hosting ICC events will be required that they will be obliged to seek permission from their respective governments for the ICC events revenue and tax exemption for all trading partners. However, the BCCI is yet to convince its government about the tax exemption agreement, due to which the final schedule of the mega event has not been released. Doubts are being expressed by various quarters about the world cup being held in India that if the Indian government does not accept the tax exemption agreement, the mega event will have to be held in another country.

But it is highly unlikely and there is a strong hope that the BCCI will be able to convince its government on this tax exemption agreement and the mega event will be held in India.

Final Words

As the days of the ICC Men’s Day Cricket World Cup 2023 are approaching, the interest of cricket fans is increasing day by day. Cricket fans are waiting for this mega event enthusiastically so that they can watch their favorite players from all over the world in action.

The people want to remove all the problems and obstacles in holding the World Cup and ensure that it is held according to the schedule.
